Here's what to expect with Siri and Apple Intelligence in the coming months -

Hopefully, in just a few months, we'll see the new AI-powered Siri for the first time.Since its launch more than a year and a half ago, Apple's concept for a new Siri has faced many technical challenges – and has yet to reach users' devices.However, that will soon change.

Siri update is coming soon

At WWDC 2024, Apple announced three major updates to Siri with Apple Intelligence:

- Reconciliation: When you talk with Siri, it will find the context of information on your device, take care of your device.

- Screen recognition: Siri will be able to see your screen when you make a request, allowing you to be less descriptive

- Act in apps: Instead of opening an app for every day-to-day activity, you can ask Siri to perform tasks for you

Originally, these new Siri updates were supposed to launch in iOS 18.4.However, Apple ran into technical hurdles with Siri's engineering stack and delayed it, rewriting Siri from scratch on a new LLM-based infrastructure.

Currently, Apple plans to use Google Gemini to drive these features, rather than device models.If they move forward with Gemini, it will use Private Cloud Compute, so Google won't get any data on these issues yet.

MacWorld's Filipe Esposito Recently reported that new SIRI features are actually on the way to launch with iOS 26.4, according to the leaked Apple code.

AI search engine

Aside from the already unveiled Siri features, Apple has a new one in the pipeline: its own artificial intelligence search engine.We first heard about this company in August.According to a recent report from Mark Gurman, it may debut in March, bringing it in line with iOS 26.4:

Apple has taken this opportunity to retool the wizard to create a new search product, internally called World Knowledge Answers, or WKA, to compete with OpenAI's Perplexity and ChatGPT.This feature is also slated for March as part of the new Siri, and could eventually find its way into the Safari browser and the Spotlight search tool.

While we don't know exactly when iOS 26.4 will launch, if history is anything to go by, it will likely be sometime in March or April.This also means that we will see the first beta debut next month.We could be looking at the all new Siri in less than 6 weeks.
