Jennifer Garner reflects on Ben Affleck divorce: 'Breaking up a family is what was hard'
Jennifer Garner reflects on her bitter divorce from Ben Affleck, father of three children.
In a new interview ahead of Season 2 of Apple TV+'s The Last Thing He Told Me, Garner opens up about overcoming one of the most difficult times in her life.Garner and Affleck split in 2015 amid reports that he had been having an affair with his then-nanny, which Garner later denied.
Garner described ending her nearly 10-year marriage as "hard."
"The truth of the matter is what was difficult. The actual separation from the family is what was difficult. The loss of true partnership and friendship is what was difficult," the Alias graduate told Marie Claire UK.

The experience also made it clear to him."I'm making a big, concerted effort to see as much of my people as possible because it's important," he said."That's where your strength lies: in your relationships and the people who carry you."
Today, Garner and Affleck appear to be on good terms.The two shared a co-parenting relationship, and Garner supported Affleck in the years following their divorce, including helping him seek treatment for his alcohol addiction.
The former couple have three children - Violet, 20, Seraphina, 17, and Samuel, 13 - who Garner says remain her source of pride.
Garner also considered retiring from her acting career while raising them, saying it was "never a sacrifice."
"It was really hard to go to work and it definitely shaped the jobs I chose in a big way," she explained.

Now that her children are grown, she says, "parenting has changed."
"It's more about parenting with a button in my mouth.... You have to let them grow up and make their choices. You can't control them," she said, adding that she was "so proud of the way they're going around the world, and proud of them for trying so hard.
