Epstein Papers Hollywood mogul Casey Wasserman to sell talent agency over Maxwell revelations Politics

In an internal memo sent to agency employees Friday, obtained by Wasserman, Wasserman said he was "troubled" by the company's "efforts."

Casey Wasserman, a leading entertainment and sports agent and president of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, is putting his eponymous talent agency up for sale after facing a backlash over his appearance in a file released by the US Department of Justice last month related to its investigation into sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

In an internal memo sent to corporate employees on Friday, obtained by Wasserman, Wasserman said he was "disturbed" by the company's "operations."

"I have therefore begun the process of selling the company, an effort that is already underway," Wasserman wrote.

Wasserman has faced pressure from his talent to step down in recent weeks, as well as calls to resign from the Olympic Coordinating Committee, after files showed he had a deeper and more intimate relationship with Esptein's accomplice, Ghislaine Maxwell, than previously known.

Wasserman has not been charged with a crime related to Epstein, but he contacted the emergency communications company that represents him.

Wasserman rode on Epstein's plane and exchanged suggestive messages with Maxwell, files released by the Justice Department show.

Maxwell, Epstein's former girlfriend, was convicted of sex trafficking and other crimes in 2021 and is serving a 20-year sentence.Epstein pleaded guilty to death in 2019 while on trial on federal sex-trafficking charges.

In Friday's memo, Wasserman said he only had "limited contact with these two people," referring to Epstein and Maxwell.

"It was years before their criminal activities came to light, and one humanitarian trip to Africa consisted of a few emails that I deeply regret sending," Wasserman said.

Sources close to the business said Wasserman's investors were upset about the situation, prompting him to move.

In an earlier statement reported by the Associated Press last month, Wasserman explained that his exchange with Maxwell "occurred more than two decades ago, long before her heinous crimes came to light."

"I have never had a personal or business relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. As has been well documented, I flew on Epstein's plane on a humanitarian trip as part of a Clinton Foundation delegation in 2002. I truly regret any association I had with either of them," he said in a statement.

Details of Epstein's secret life came to light in 2005, when several underage girls accused him of offering to pay for massages or sex at his Palm Beach estate. In 2008, Epstein pleaded guilty to two counts of state prostitution and served 13 months in prison.

After the release of the latest files, singer Chappell Roan announced that he is leaving the Wasserman Corporation.Singer Orville Peck quickly followed, and then singer-songwriter Weyes Blood, among others.
