Poland Implements Ban on Cars from Russia and Baltic States Amidst EU Sanctions
In a move aligned with the European Union’s sanctions against Russia, Poland has officially commenced the enforcement of a ban on cars registered in Russia. The ban also extends to include vehicles from the Baltic states of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. Unlike other restrictions, the citizenship of the driver and passengers does not alter the ban’s applicability.
Speaking on behalf of the government, Polish Interior Minister Mariusz Kaminski asserted that cars bearing Russian registration plates have no right to enter Polish territory. This newly implemented ban builds upon existing restrictions on Russian trucks.
As of now, the ban is enforced at all Polish borders, including the land border shared with Russia’s Kaliningrad territory.
