For Petra Kvitova, the Grand Slam tournament at Wimbledon ends in the first round this year.

The 10th-seeded Czech must concede defeat to American Sloane Stephens 3:6, 4:6 on Monday night. The 31-year-old Kvitova won the All England Club title in 2011 and 2014.

Stevens, the 2017 US Open winner, has not played in a Grand Slam quarter-final since the 2019 French Open, and is currently only 73rd in the world rankings.

Belarusian second seed Arina Sabalenka has no problems, who beat Romania’s Monica Niculescu with 6:1, 6:4. Garbine Mugurza (ESP/11) sweeps France’s Fiona Ferro 6-0, 6-1. Sobi Kenin (USA/4) beat China’s Wang 6:4, 6:2.
