Shohei Ohtani denies sports gambling involvement and accuses interpreter of stealing money

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Shohei Ohtani is at the center of a scandal involving theft and gambling, but he is vehemently denying any wrongdoing. The baseball superstar has pointed the finger at his former interpreter, Ippei Mizuhara, for allegedly stealing money from his accounts.

Ohtani, who recently signed a record contract with the Dodgers, insists that he never participated in any form of sports betting or used a bookmaker. However, reports have surfaced suggesting that millions of dollars were withdrawn from his accounts without his knowledge.

The situation came to light during a team meeting in South Korea, where Ohtani was informed of the issue. He has since been cooperating with both Federal and Major League Baseball investigations into the matter. It is important to note that MLB rules against gambling are strictly enforced and violations can result in suspension.

Mizuhara, who was allegedly fired for his involvement in the scandal, is also under investigation by the IRS along with former bookkeeper Mathew Bowyer. Bowyer’s attorney has denied any direct contact with Ohtani and claims that bets were placed by Mizuhara.

There has been a noticeable shift in the explanations and statements surrounding the scandal, with Ohtani’s spokesperson disavowing Mizuhara’s initial account of events. Both MLB and the IRS have announced formal investigations into the matter as the situation continues to unfold.

Despite the controversy, Ohtani remains focused on his baseball career with the Dodgers. He is determined to put this scandal behind him and move forward, all while maintaining his innocence in the matter.
