Postfinance isn’t interested in new Mastercard and Visa debit cards

The new debit cards increase fees for small and medium businesses, Blick announced. Entrepreneurs now have to pull the trigger 36 times more when a customer pushes one. In recent weeks and months, Swiss banks such as UBS, Credit Suisse and several cantonal banks sent out the first cards. A Debit Mastercard replaces Maestro, while Visa Debit replaces V-Pay.

Banks have a vested interest in the new debit cards. You will now receive what is called a swap fee, and thus earn higher fees. Almost all major Swiss banks participate in the game Mastercard, Visa and payment service provider Worldline. Just Postfinance doesn’t care about new debit cards.
