He was one of the most popular, if not the most famous, characters in the zombie action movie Zack Snyder Army of the Dead. Netflix predicted early on that Snyder’s return to his (the movie) roots could be a success and he started working on an entire world right away.
And the streaming giant showed an especially lucky hand, given all the characters he relied on in the prequel to Safeknacker Ludwig Dieter, played by Matthias Schweighöfer — a spot when you look at their popularity with fans. In “Army of Thieves” Schweigover was allowed to show how good his vault-breaking skills really are. And they’re unbeatable, as the new trailer appears as part of the “Tudum” fan event:
Zombies play a secondary role in “Army of Thieves”
The plot in “Army of Thieves” revolves around a small-town banker Ludwig Dieter (Matthias Schweigover), who works as an underground safe cracker in his spare time. He may also have been noticed by Gwendolyn (Natalie Emmanuel), who forms a team of mysterious agents. In addition to hacking genius Korina (Ruby O. Fee), Bleifuß Rolph (Guz Khan) and Brad Cage (Stuart Martin), the rough guy, Dieter will take on the most important task: breaking the safe.
