Only Anett Kontaveit (WTA 8) qualified for the WTA Finals in Guadalajara, Mexico at last chance. With a championship win 10 days ago in Cluj-Napoca, the Estonian secured the last free place at the end of the tournament – and continued their solid run smoothly in Romania.

Against Barbora Krejcikova, she needed 75 minutes to win 6:3, 6:4 in a dry cloth. He convinced Kontaveit against the Czech, who lost in two sets to Belinda Bencic in the Billie Jean King Cup, with a strong and variable serve (8 aces). Krejcikova could not perform a single break ball, and the French Open winner made a lot of unforced errors.

In the second game of the Teotihuacan group on Thursday night, Karolina Pliskova (CZ/WTA4) and Garbine Muguruza (Spain/WTA5) face each other.
