After a period of continuous decline, the number of Covid-19 infections increased slightly in Occitanie according to the ARS.
The virus is still spreading. After several consecutive weeks of decline, the number of Covid-19 infections is seeing a slight increase in Occitanie. This appears in the latest bulletin from the Regional Health Agency of Occitanie (ARS) published at the beginning of the evening on Tuesday 15 March.
This bulletin indicates a rate of 579 cases of coronavirus infection per 100,000 population during the past seven days in the region. A week ago, on March 8, this indicator showed 561. At the provincial level, the infection rate was 552 in Haute-Garonne. It is 738 in Tarn-et-Garonne, 542 in Aude, or 548 in Ariège. And Anna Gears is currently the worst affected department with an incidence rate of 772.
ARS: “The Covid-19 epidemic is still very active in Occitania”
“Even if the situation gradually improves, the epidemic is still very active in Occitanie. After a steady decline, epidemiological indicators began to rise again with a slight increase in the positivity rate and an average of more than 5,000 new positive cases per day “, ARS writes in this Status update.
He also notes that “the infection rate is also rising in some departments and the regional average. Hospital activity, both in conventional hospitalization and in intensive care units, has decreased slightly. This relieves pressure on our healthcare teams.”
lifting restrictions
Despite this context, the government has decided to continue lifting some health restrictions. Thus, the vaccination corridor, which unleashed the anger of many opponents, has been suspended since Monday, March 14.
It is no longer necessary to present a complete vaccination schedule to attend a movie or theater show, sit at a restaurant table, go to the living room, or attend a major event. But it is actually a suspension, which leaves the idea that it can be applied again if the situation requires it.
