Hotzone Solutions, LLNL host training course in Czech Republic
The course focused on training individuals that will be tasked with instructor and training roles in Iraq with chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) related detection and response training.
The course consisted of hands-on exercises, incident command and technical properties associated with the verification of chemicals in the field, lessons from response efforts in Syria, hazard categorization and technology associated with Raman and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy.
This course also received support from the Federal Resources Company and the Sujchbo Training Center, alongside HZS and the LLNL.
Both Civil Defense Director General Khadim Slaman Bouhan and Director of the Directorate of Training and Rehabilitation Affairs of Iraq Ali Mustafa Abdul Hafid were present for the introductions and observed the opening presentations.
HZS is specialized in international training, development and consulting relating to CBRN response and management for military, emergency services personnel and law enforcement. The company was founded by former military and civil defense officers, including representatives from the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), the United Nations’ Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission and the U.N. Special Commission.
