Wash. Military Department seeks emergency program coordinator
The position is responsible for the coordination of emergency preparedness grant programs with guidance from high-level staff within emergency management. This person will be tasked with reviewing payment requests to ensure that they are in line with state and federal guidelines. This person will also be expected to monitor contracts, amendments, expenditure reconciliations and other forms of fiscal and budgeting activity.
The position requires at least two years of experience as an emergency management specialist or the combination of a bachelor's degree and at least two years of professional experience within the field of emergency management. Preference will be given to candidates that have experience and can express knowledge of monitoring grants for governmental or private entities, development of contracts and budget status briefing and evaluation.
Candidates should provide evidence of their ability to manage all aspects of acquiring and implementing grants, being able to apply budgeting principles and the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite software and produce complex documents and presentations.
The individual selected will be required to join the Washington Federation of State Employees or an equivalent payment of a union fee. A successful background investigation will be required. If selected, candidates must be able to obtain a Washington state driver's license.
