Dallas County seeks emergency management officer

The Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management of Dallas County announced in a recent job posting an opening for an emergency management officer in the planning section.

This person would be responsible for the development, coordination and maintenance of departmental plans relating to emergency response, planning, recovery and preparedness. This position will function as the planning chief in the case of an emergency or disaster situation. This person will be expected to conduct training and seminar sessions.

Candidates should have a knowledge and familiarity with disaster preparedness ordinances at the local, state and federal levels. Familiarity and knowledge of grant programs and proficiency with computer applications will also be required.

Candidates must have a bachelor's degree in a field related to emergency management, administration or planning. Candidates are also required to have at least four years of relevant work experience in emergency management, planning or administration. Those with federal or state levels of emergency management certification are preferred.

Candidates should expect to be on a 24-hour on-call schedule, should an emergency occur. Candidates must also reside or be able to relocate to Dallas County and must also possess or be able to obtain a Texas driver's license with a good driving record.
