Montgomery County, Maryland, seeks emergency manager

The Montgomery County Office of Emergency Management and Homeland Security in Maryland has an opening for a manager III position, they stated in a recent job listing.

This position is tasked with supervision over employees and contractors that work within the realm of emergency management and those who specifically are charged with the development of preparedness plans for the county. This person will also be expected to review and be aware of plans and how they fall within state and federal guidelines. This position will work with city and regional departments as needed and will oversee community outreach activity.
Because this position oversees union employees it is important that candidates foster a positive working environment with mutual respect and cooperation between managers and employees.

Applicants should hold a bachelor's degree in a related field and have at least five years of working experience in an emergency management or homeland security context. Current certification as a Certified Emergency Manager, and experience in leadership, coordination, plan development and integration and leading emergency management committees or other entities, will be given preference.
