Emergency exercises underway at Reese Technology Center

The Reese Technology Center (RTC) in Lubbock, Texas, begins a three-day exercise on Tuesday to evaluate the incident response capacities of its staff, faculty and security personnel.
Many first response vehicles and their respective staff members will be on the campus for the exercise.

Groups attending this exercise include the Lubbock County Sheriff's Office, Texas Tech University Police Department, Lubbock Police Department, Lubbock Fire Department's Hazardous Materials Response Team and the South Plains Association of Governments.
Testing is expected to begin around 8:00 a.m. and close between noon and 1:00 p.m. each day. The event is not open to the public or media.
RTC is a technological-centric campus with research and engineering being their main focus. It also offers educational opportunities. It features a full-scale business center and a data center that houses a fiber optic network. The center also supports approximately 3,600 students from South Plains College and Texas Tech University.
The RTC"s scope of interest includes alternative energy, bio-engineering and biology, environmental science and business development. The center supports approximately 750 positions in both the public and private sectors and is an overall part of economic development in the West Texas area.
