Ark. seeks public health preparedness coordinator
The coordinator will be responsible for the regional management and administration of initiatives and projects from the Office of Preparedness and Response, in addition to the department as a whole. The position will be focused on the central region of the state, which includes seven counties.
As part of the duties, the coordinator is expected to manage grants associated with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Cites Readiness Initiative. This includes the upkeep of medical countermeasures, and participating in annual training and community outreach.
Frequent travel will be expected of the selected candidate as the coordinator will need to meet with different health units in each county, and attend regional and statewide meetings. Travel outside of the state also will be required.
Candidates must be able to serve on a 24-hour on-call schedule in the case of a regional or statewide emergency.
Candidates are required to have a bachelor's degree or equivalent, and working experience in emergency management. Candidates with experience directly relating to public health are preferred.
Interested candidates should send application information or questions to Shelbey Hollingsworth via email (shelbey.hollingsworth@arkansas .gov).
