FEMA branch seeks deputy federal preparedness coordinator

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of deputy federal preparedness coordinator at its office in Denton, Texas, the agency said Friday.

The position is responsible for the implementation of preparedness programs regarding all aspects of emergency management, including, but not limited to: response and recovery, threats or actual terror attacks from foreign and domestic assailants, and major disasters. The coordinator also will monitor and evaluate regional capabilities for preparedness and implement changes when necessary.

The coordinator is also responsible for the management of finances and budgeting of the National Preparedness Division.

Key requirements for applicants: They must be U.S. citizens, they must be able to pass a background check, and if they're men born after Dec. 31, 1959, they must be registered with the Selective Service system.

This is a GS-14-level position within the federal government, so qualified candidates should possess, at a minimum, one year at the GS-13 level, with experience and high levels of technical proficiency in representing an agency and in communication, teamwork and collaborative skills, as well as the ability to assess and evaluate work and demonstrate leadership.
