Lockheed Martin Secures $4.1 Billion Contract for Development of Battle Command System

The U.S. Department of Defense has awarded a substantial contract worth up to $4.1 billion to defense giant Lockheed Martin for the development of its Command and Control, Battle Management and Communications system (C2BMC). This system plays a critical role in the Missile Defense Agency’s efforts to bolster national defense against ballistic missile threats.

Under the terms of the contract, Lockheed Martin will be responsible for the development, testing, delivery, and operation of updates and new capabilities for the C2BMC system. This system integrates various components of the Ballistic Missile Defense System to create a comprehensive, networked missile defense apparatus that can identify, track, and intercept ballistic missile threats across all phases of flight.

The contract ordering period spans from May 1, 2024, through April 30, 2029, with an option to extend through the end of April 2034. This significant investment in the development of C2BMC is crucial for enhancing the capabilities of the Missile Defense Agency and strengthening national defense against evolving ballistic missile threats.

Overall, Lockheed Martin’s role in the development of the C2BMC system highlights the company’s ongoing commitment to advancing defense technologies and safeguarding the United States against emerging threats.
