Store oatmeal properly

To ensure that you can enjoy your oatmeal for a long time and protect it from food moths, you should place your oatmeal in a storage container with a lid after purchase. It is best to keep the container in a dark and cool place – for example in a pantry or in a kitchen cupboard. Do not store your chips near a window to protect them from the sun.

Oatmeal or oat bran: what’s the difference?

Have you stood in front of the supermarket shelf many times and wondered how oat bran differs from rolled oats?

Oat bran is the outer layer of the oat grain, while oatmeal is made from the inner part of the grain which is oatmeal. During manufacturing, the oat groats are steamed to soften them and then pressed between rollers to form the flakes.

Compared to rolled oats, oat bran has a finer texture and a softer taste. Because the bran comes from the fiber-rich part of the oats, it contains more fiber than regular oatmeal.

Oatmeal as a substitute for wheat flour

As mentioned earlier, rolled oats can also be used as an ingredient in baked goods, often as a substitute for white flour. To achieve a flour-like consistency, the flakes can be ground very well with a powerful blender. Alternatively, you can get ready-made oatmeal in stores.
