Apple has unveiled the latest updates for its operating systems, with iOS 17.3 and iPadOS 17.3 now available for public beta testing. These betas give users the opportunity to try out the new software before its official release.
To access the beta, non-developers simply need to open the Settings app on their Apple device, go to the Software Update section, and toggle on the iOS 17 or iPadOS 17 Public Beta. However, signing up on Apple’s beta testing website is a prerequisite.
One notable feature in iOS 17.3 is Stolen Device Protection, designed to enhance security in case an iPhone is stolen. When enabled, this feature requires Face ID or Touch ID authentication for various actions such as viewing iCloud Keychain passwords, turning off Lost Mode, erasing data, and using saved payment methods in Safari. Certain actions, including changing an Apple ID password, updating a device passcode, turning off Find My, and removing Face ID, will necessitate authentication and a one-hour security delay.
Another exciting addition in the update is the ability to create collaborative Apple Music playlists. Subscribers will be able to make playlists with friends, family, and others who share similar musical tastes. This feature can be accessed by tapping on the person-shaped icon and sharing the playlist link.
Users can expect the official release of iOS 17.3 and iPadOS 17.3 in January 2024.
With these updates, Apple continues to provide exciting features and enhanced security measures for its users. The public beta testing phase offers an early peek into these improvements, allowing users to provide valuable feedback to further refine the software before its official launch.
