Stephen Toscani is set to lead the char-CDU

After a devastating defeat in the state elections in Charland at the end of March, Sir CDU leader Tobias Hans announced his resignation, taking the consequences. He is now being followed by Stephen Toscani – one of the state’s most experienced politicians.
Stephen Toscani is set to become the new head of the CDU in Charland. According to the party, the CDU’s state board unanimously nominated a 55 – year – old man for office. The lawyer may be elected on May 28 at the state party convention in Epaphorn to succeed party leader Tobias Hans. After the CDU’s defeat in the state elections on March 27, Hans announced his resignation from the party leadership.
Toscany is one of the most experienced politicians in the state. Charlender, who joined the CDU at the age of 15, has been Speaker of the State Parliament since 2018. Previously, he was Charland’s Minister for Europe, and was temporarily in charge of the Interior, Finance and Justice. He was first elected to the state parliament in 1999. He has also been the State Vice President of the Charland CDU since 2011. Franco-German relations were the closest thing to his heart.
In October 2018, Hans accepted the position of State President of the CDU. He was the Prime Minister of Charland from March 2018 until April this year. The CDU has returned to the opposition for the first time in 23 years, after a major defeat in the state elections in late March. In the March 27 state election, the SPD, led by new Prime Minister Anke Rehlinger, won an absolute majority of 43.5 percent of the vote. For the first time in 23 years, he is leading the charge. CDU lost 28.5 percent by a huge margin.
The party also announced that Toscani had nominated Frank Wagner, a former education policy spokesman for the CDU parliamentary committee, as secretary general in the state parliament.
