FEMA announces open emergency management specialist positions in Massachusetts.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is seeking emergency management specialists to work temporarily with the Department of Homeland Security in Boston and Maynard, Massachusetts.

This is a two-year, temporary full-time appointment. The salary range is $76,735 to $99,760 per year.

The position is open to all citizens of the U.S. Deadline to apply is Jan. 11 or upon the receipt of the 200th application for the position -- whichever occurs first.

The position requires planning and analysis of regional readiness to responding to and staffing for disasters, as well as strategic analysis addressing regional disaster staffing efficiency and capabilities in support of disaster operations.

The successful candidate will become a member of the FEMA response division in Region 1.

Both positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations. This recall may include irregular work hours and work at locations other than the established official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee’s official position description.

Travel requirements for the position may be extensive, spanning weeks to months with little advance notice. The position may also require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
