The International Association of Emergency Managers for the U.S. (IAEM-USA) announced this week that Robie Robinson has been sworn in as its new president.

Robinson currently serves as the executive director of public safety at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and was sworn in during the IAEM-USA Annual Conference that took place in Las Vegas. He is also a certified emergency manager through the IAEM.

“Looking outside the organization, I also am eager to work with many government representatives, organizations, agencies, private businesses, nonprofits and citizens, which are so critical to the success of emergency management programs everywhere,” Robinson said. “The responsibility before me in the coming year could be intimidating, but with the commitment of our leadership team, the support of the staff experts and the continued participation of our membership, I am looking forward to a very busy and productive year.”

During his address, Robinson noted the level of experience that exists within the membership of the organization across many regions of the U.S. Alongside Robinson, Lanita Lloyd and Nick Crossley were sworn in as first and second IAEM-USA vice presidents.

Robinson has served as an emergency manager for three counties in Texas. In his role at the university, he oversees activity and operations of the university’s police department and matters of safety on campus and for employees.
