TSA seeks transportation security specialist in Oakland.
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is seeking a transportation security specialist with a specialization in explosives, it announced in a job opening on Tuesday.

This position is open to current TSA employees and competitive temporary employees and will serve at the Oakland International Airport in California.

This person will act as a technical consultant for the facility’s federal security director and other management staff. This person will respond to and assess all unresolved alarms that may involve explosives, explosive components, improvised explosive devices (IED) and those related to chemical, biological, nuclear and radiological (CBRN) threats. This will include the analysis of device components to determine whether the item in question is an explosive or has the potential to become one.

This person will also provide training for other transportation security officers (TSO) and airport staff relating to the detection of potential explosive devices. This position is also expected to develop emergency and safety procedures.

This position requires at least one year of experience at the GS-12 level of government work with specialized experience in bomb management assistance including work with a bomb squad and experience responding to IEDs or potential IEDs. Certification from an IED or bomb disposal course and field experience in military or civilian explosives ordnance disposal is also required.
