The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has an opening for an explosives specialist to serve at the Minneapolis - St. Paul International Airport (MSP) in Twin Cities, Minnesota.

For this position, candidates must have U.S. citizenship and be capable of obtaining secret clearance. A Bomb Disposal Graduation certificate is also required in order to be considered.

This position serves as a transportation security specialist that is focused on explosive alerts and threats. Tasks under this include responding and assessing all alarms that could potentially involve explosive devices; chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) devices; improvised explosive devices (IED); and components relating to these devices. The explosives specialist will also develop training methodologies for security officers within the TSA and appropriate airport staff.

This position must provide recommendations for enhancing the detection capabilities through security and emergency safety procedure adjustments.

Candidates will be required to have at least one year of working experience at the GS-11 level of government service or equivalent role with specialized experience in assistance with bomb management and assessing components of a device to determine if it is an IED. Accredited bomb disposal courses consist of the Naval School Explosive Ordnance Disposal and the Hazardous Devices School.
