Okla. seeks local emergency response coordinator

The Oklahoma State Department of Health posted an opening for a local emergency response coordinator within the Bryan County Health Department on Friday.

The position is in charge of coordination of emergency services up to the county level. This person also develops and maintains coalitions dealing with community-level management including the Mass Immunization/Prophylaxis Strategy (MIPS) and the Local Oklahoma Medical Reserve Corps.

The response coordinator is tasked with the coordination of the county health department's response to emergency and disaster situations, acting as the representative from the county health department in emergency management-related coalitions, and facilitating preparedness activity throughout the community and county levels. This position also facilitates and prepares for visits from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Candidates must hold a bachelor's degree in an area related to health science community health, communication or a related field within business. Candidates also will need at least one year of emergency management work experience. This position is subject to a background investigation, and candidates must be approved to work in the U.S.

All candidates will be required to bring proof of all minimum license and educational requirements. Candidates should have a thorough understanding of local, state and federal laws, and regulation relating to emergency and disaster response and management.
