Arkansas DEM seeks emergency planner
The full-time position may require 24-hour on-call duty in the event of an emergency or disaster and may require travel. The position is located in North Little Rock.
The individual hired will engage in multiple functions for the office, including reading federal regulations related to emergency operation plans for man-made or natural disasters, helping county coordinators to obtain federal funds for disaster preparedness, providing information on emergency services to local groups and assisting county coordinators in the identification of man-made disasters and in the coordination of disaster relief.
Special job dimensions for the position include the knowledge of state and federal laws related to emergency services programs, knowledge of disaster programs, plans, shelters and equipment and the ability to develop and present training on emergency services.
To be considered for the position, applicants must have the equivalent of a bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration or a related field, in addition to two years of experience in a community organization, government or related field. Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of the basic requirements.
