Avon Protection to exhibit emergency hood at international conference

Avon Protection recently announced that it plans to exhibit the world's smallest NIOSH-certified chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear air purifying escape respirator, the NH-15, at the 2013 International Defense Exhibition and Conference.

The NH-15 is billed as offering protection against all airborne CBRN threats, including radioactive airborne particles. The mask is made of clear material for to increase the wearer's visibility in emergencies and also protects the face from liquid agents.

The device is deployable in less than 30 seconds and offers CBRN protection for at least 15 minutes, as stipulated by NIOSH, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health.

Avon recently received a major order from the United Arab Emirates National Ambulance Company. The mask will be issued to paramedics for use when entering potentially hazardous environments. The company said that it expects to receive further orders because it is gaining rapid support among security support personnel, police, fire officers and civilians.

"We understand at Avon the challenges faced by security support, emergency services and civilians in threatening CBRN scenarios," Avon Protection Development Director Matt Evans said. "Twin low-profile filters on a unique hinge system feature the latest filtration media which reduces breathing resistance and additionally a front reflector makes it easier to identify colleagues in low light environments. It's an essential device for anyone faced with a potential CBRN emergency."
