UDT and Powersafe team for bioterror protection

Universal Detection Technology, a developer of early-warning monitoring technologies, and Powersafe Pty Ltd., have created a joint relationship to combine the two companies' products to protect facilities from bioterrorism and other infectious health threats.

This system will help facilities like mailrooms test powders of a suspicious nature, including suspected anthrax letters, without being exposed to potentially harmful substances. UNDT’s test kits will be combined with the Powdersafe Containment system, which can provide maximum protection in the field to conduct testing for toxic and biological substances in real time.

With the two products working together, protection is provided for both the user and important forensic evidence. If a positive test occurs with the Powdersafe Containment system, it can be brought to a nearby laboratory that contains the UDT test kit.

“The partnership with Powdersafe allows us to provide our clients with a containment system where suspicious powders can be examined without exposing the user to any harmful bio-agents or toxins,” Jacques Tizabi, CEO of Universal Detection Technology, said. “This continues our strategy of partnering with innovative companies in the CBRN detection and protection industries.”

Universal Detection Technology’s biological weapon detection equipment is currently used by private industry members and first responders throughout the United States. The Powdersafe Containment system has been endorsed by the Australian Government as a security product and it is used throughout the world for mail handling and first responder teams.
