MDES seeks emergency management supervisor
This position would require being available around the clock, seven days a week, on an on-call basis for emergencies. The supervisor would be expected to performs tasks related to policy, procedure management and management of budgets.
The Preparedness Branch handles the coordination of preparedness and protection efforts throughout the state in case of an emergency. They also handle non-emergency situations relating to grant acquisition, community preparation and assessments.
Candidates should show evidence of knowledge and familiarity with emergency management organization, principles and practice of disaster planning at the local and state level. Candidates should also be able to analyze and collect data utilizing modern methods.
Candidates should have an understanding of how the different levels of emergency management personnel, in governments at all levels, interact and perform with each other. A bachelor's degree in emergency management, municipal planning, public safety program planning, public administration, business administration, military science or related fields of study is requested.
Applicants should hold at least seven years of working experience in emergency management, planning, disaster planning, public administration or related areas and should indicate progression in leadership authority.
