The Houston Texans have made a significant move, agreeing to void the final three years of Stefon Diggs’ contract, making him a free agent after the 2024 NFL season. Diggs, who previously wore No. 14 with both the Minnesota Vikings and Buffalo Bills, has secured his old college number, No. 1, with the Texans after paying $100,000 to safety Jimmie Ward for the jersey.
In exchange for Diggs, the Texans traded a 2025 second-round pick, a 2024 sixth-round pick, and a 2025 fifth-round selection to the Buffalo Bills. Additionally, Diggs’ base salary for the 2024 season has been raised from $18 million to $22.52 million.
This will mark the first time in Diggs’ professional career that he will wear the No. 1 jersey, a number he considered switching back to in 2021 after the NFL allowed wide receivers to wear single-digit numbers. However, he ultimately decided to stick with No. 14. KPRC was the first to report the news of Diggs’ deal with Ward for the No. 1 jersey.
With this exciting move, Texans fans can look forward to seeing Diggs in action in his new number during the 2024 season. Stay tuned to Bio Prep Watch for more updates on this developing story.
