Private Division hit with layoffs as Take-Two shuts down Roll7 and Intercept Games

Take-Two Interactive Announces Closure of Indie Studios Roll7 and Intercept Games

Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of popular video game publisher Private Division, has made the decision to shut down two indie-size studios, Roll7 in the UK and Intercept Games in Seattle. Roll7, known for the hit OlliOlli series and Rollerdrome, and Intercept Games, the team behind Kerbal Space Program 2, have been integral parts of the gaming community for their innovative and engaging titles.

The closure of the Seattle office will affect approximately 70 employees, the same number who work at Intercept Games. These layoffs are part of a cost reduction program announced by Take-Two to streamline operations and invest in future growth. Unfortunately, this has resulted in layoffs not only at the two studios but also among other Private Division staff in Seattle, New York, Las Vegas, and Munich.

Despite the layoffs, Private Division is continuing to release new titles, such as Moon Studio’s No Rest for the Wicked, and has plans to launch Tales of the Shire: A The Lord of the Rings Game in the future. This signals a commitment to providing gamers with quality content, even as the company undergoes restructuring.

This news follows Take-Two’s previous announcement that they would be laying off 5% of all staff in 2024 as part of ongoing cost-cutting initiatives. While these layoffs are unfortunate, it is clear that Take-Two is focused on ensuring the long-term success of their business, even if it means making difficult decisions in the short term.
