24 hour race
Despite the ongoing pandemic, an exciting field of participants has come together for the 49th edition of the Nürburgring 24-hour race (5/6 June): 122 cars will start in 2021. In our grand gallery, we show you all the participants of the classic show on Nordschleife.
The effects of the crisis can still be felt in the 24-hour race. Although the field has grown by more than 20 cars, the entry list is rather short compared to previous years. However, the upper part is occupied especially as it was rare before. In the first class SP9 GT3 class, there are 34 heavily occupied vehicles. German brands Audi, BMW, Mercedes and Porsche brought their best drivers and teams to Eiffel. Exotic rings like the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 and Ferrari 488 GT3 want to challenge the best dogs again this year.
Among the exotics, of course, the GT special SCG 004c from Scuderia Glickenhaus, which was mentioned in the SP-X, should be mentioned. The new KTM X-Bow GTX is also popular, and one of them will be on the road with auto paint, sports and travel editor Jens Dralle.
From Dacia to Ferrari
As usual, the field offers much more than just high-gloss sports cars. Smaller GTs like many Porsche Caymans and touring cars like the Golf GTI TCR – one with Christian Gephardt’s super sports car test – provide the often-cited salt in soup.
This year, to the delight of all Nordschleife lovers, the Opel Manta returns to Nordschleife. The old stars around Volker Strycek traditionally wear a fox tail around the track and entertain TV viewers with legendary stories. Speaking of spectators: 10,000 will be on site in the Grand Prix track area. Unfortunately, Nordschleife has to wait another year for the camping bustle.
In our catalog we show you an overview of all the participants in the classic 24 hour race at the Nürburgring.
