Cleveland Browns Make Roster Moves Ahead of Game Against Jaguars
In preparation for their upcoming game against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, the Cleveland Browns have made some significant roster moves. Among the changes, quarterback Joe Flacco has been elevated from the practice squad to the active roster, which may indicate that he will be starting for the Browns for a second consecutive week.
Flacco’s performance in last week’s loss to the Rams showcased his abilities on the field. He completed 23-of-44 passes, accumulating 254 yards, two touchdowns, and unfortunately, one interception. Despite the loss, Flacco’s performance has impressed the Browns coaching staff, leading to his potential starting role against the Jaguars.
However, the Browns will have limited options at quarterback, as P.J. Walker has been waived to make room for cornerback Cameron Mitchell on the roster. Mitchell, who has recently been activated from injured reserve, will join Flacco and Dorian Thompson-Robinson as the only quarterbacks available for Sunday’s game.
Walker, who had appeared in six games for the Browns this season, starting two, has completed 49 percent of his passes for 674 yards, one touchdown, and unfortunately, five interceptions. The decision to waive Walker was a tough one, but the Browns coaching staff believe that Mitchell’s presence will strengthen their defensive lineup.
In more positive news, receiver Amari Cooper has successfully cleared concussion protocol and will be available to play on Sunday. His return to the lineup will provide a valuable asset for the Browns offense, adding depth and a formidable threat to the passing game.
Unfortunately, not all news is positive for the Browns. Offensive tackle Dawand Jones has been downgraded to out for the game due to a knee injury. This setback will undoubtedly impact the Browns’ offensive line, and adjustments will need to be made to ensure the team’s overall performance is not compromised.
As the Browns make these roster moves in preparation for their game against the Jaguars, fans will be eagerly watching to see how these changes will impact the team’s performance on Sunday. With Flacco potentially leading the team on offense and key players like Cooper stepping back onto the field, the Browns are positioned to put up a strong fight against their opponents.
