Under the slogan “Restart Running”, scc Events, which is also responsible for the implementation of the Berlin Marathon, organized an evening in a row on Saturday. About 5,000 runners and more than 300 skaters competed in the five and ten kilometer races.
This was the 29th edition of this summer’s event, which always begins at dusk. And a total success, if CCC Sports Director Mark Mild made his way, who said over the rbb mic: “It went great.” Both athletes adhered to hygiene procedures. Above all, there were regulations for distance, the obligation to wear a mask and three Gs (“recovery, test, and vaccinate”) for athletes.
The race is a precursor to the 2021 Berlin running season, which could still take out half marathons. In a marathon in September, for example, about 35,000 people should start. “It’s easy to handle,” marathon head Jürgen Lock told RBB, who was just as enthusiastic about Runners City Night as the majority of runners, and added, “The runners and spectators treat each other and handle the situation carefully. A very good road.”
The 2021 Berlin Marathon is scheduled to take place on September 26 and is a pilot project for mass events.
