Upcoming OLED iPad Pro Launch Predicted with Apples iPadOS 17.5 Beta Teasing New Display Technology

Apple is gearing up to launch a new iPad Pro model in the first half of 2024, but production concerns may cause a delay, possibly pushing the release to WWDC 2024 or later. The upcoming iPad Pro is expected to feature an OLED display, as referenced in the new iPadOS 17.5 beta.

Initially, Apple was looking to launch OLED iPad Pro models in the second half of last year, alongside the M3 MacBook Pro release. However, various delays have hindered the launch, and the May timeline for the release is now uncertain.

The recent release of iOS 17.5 and iPadOS 17.5 beta 1 to developers last week confirmed the arrival of OLED display technology for the iPad Pro. References found in the beta suggest the upcoming models will come in 11-inch and 13-inch sizes for both WiFi and Cellular variants.

Suppliers Samsung and LG are currently developing OLED displays for the iPad Pro, with LG reportedly receiving more business for the 13-inch panels. Additionally, references in the iPadOS 17.5 beta hint at a new Apple Pencil with “squeeze” functionality, including “LongSqueeze” and “DoubleSqueeze” additions.

Despite these developments, Apple has not announced an official event for the launch of the OLED iPad Pro. Speculation is rife that the new model could be unveiled at WWDC 2024, as references in the beta suggest a possible tie-in with the annual developer conference. Stay tuned for more updates on this highly anticipated release from Apple.
