Stuttgart signs the declaration of # substantive action of German aid to fight AIDS

Despite the education campaigns about modes of transmission and the fact that people living with HIV can now live almost normal lives thanks to highly advanced medicines, they still suffer exclusion and stigmatization in everyday life and at work. Therefore, people with HIV often hide their condition. For many people, infection means a deep cut in their life, often associated with feelings of shame and fear. In particular, the fear of going out, that is, the unauthorized disclosure of infection by another person, plays a major role. A familiar environment, such as co-workers, can be an important support. However, comprehensive information, more training, and a clear attitude towards discretionary and respectful interaction are important for this purpose.

The parliamentary group Bündnis 90 / DIE GRÜNEN in the Municipal Council submitted a request to sign the declaration “#Action Positive: Against discrimination against people living with HIV in the workplace”. On May 11, members of the Equal Opportunity Advisory Board voted unanimously to sign it. The Stuttgart Hospital signed the declaration last year.
