FEMA seeks emergency management specialist for New York office

The Federal Emergency Management Agency is looking for an emergency management specialist for its New York office.

Key requirements include U.S. citizenship, passing a background check, and being registered in the selective service system if the candidate is male and born after Dec. 31, 1959. This position  requires travel. Duties include mobilization, demobilization and deployment of Regional Incident Management Assistance Teams (IMATs); facilitating operations of the IMATs; and serving as an agency spokesperson.

Qualifications for successful candidates include experience that indicates the ability to lead a self-sufficient, mobile response team that could be called upon on a moment's notice with a local, state or tribal government, or private entity. This position involves managing federal support to all types of domestic governments in the face of natural or man-made disasters, or an act of terror.
