Typhoon “Chanthu” is currently heading for Shanghai – with winds exceeding 170 kilometers per hour. In China’s largest city, flights have been canceled, and schools and stores remain closed.
Typhoon Chantou affects public life in Shanghai, China. Operations were halted at the two airports in the country’s most populous city. Subway operators also had to prepare appropriate measures. Schools as well as many offices and shops must remain closed throughout the day.
“Chanthu” recently moved through Taiwan
“Chanthu” initially caused heavy rain near the Philippines. Yesterday, the tropical cyclone passed over Taiwan with heavy rain and winds of up to 198 kilometers per hour. Then head to Shanghai across the Taiwan Strait.
However, the hurricane has already lost some strength on its way: it has been downgraded from a super hurricane to a powerful hurricane and now has winds of over 170 kilometers per hour.
