The number of patients in intensive care units and hospitals continues to increase

The number of hospitalizations in critical care continues to increase, reaching 1,458 patients on Friday, a week after crossing the threshold of 1,000 patients in these services that treat the most severe cases.

With 165 new cases admitted within 24 hours, critical care received 1,458 patients on Friday versus 1,420 on Thursday, according to figures published by France’s public health authority. This indicator fell below the 1000 threshold on July 7, before starting to rise.

Hospitalization is on the rise

The number of hospital admissions is also on the rise: 8,368 patients on Friday (including 862 new admissions within 24 hours) versus 8,210 the day before.

The number of daily deaths related to Covid-19 in hospitals also increased, reaching 60 in the past 24 hours, compared to 52 the day before, bringing the number of deaths to 112,190 since the beginning of the epidemic.

Health authorities reported 25,077 new cases of COVID-19 in 24 hours, compared to 26,460 the day before. The positivity rate is 4.2%.

On the vaccination front, 44,413,560 people have received at least one injection (65.9% of the total population) since the start of the campaign, and 36,919,028 people now have a full vaccination schedule (54.6% of the total population).
