Michael J. Hennessy Associates Inc. recently launched Contagion, a news resource designed for medical professionals that work with infectious diseases.
Contagion will work to deliver the most up-to-date news in the infectious disease industry, while also educating professionals. The news source will be entirely digital.
Michael J. Hennessy Associates already offers research tools, medical media and additional education to medical professionals.
“These and other ongoing developments prompted a need for a single resource for health care specialists working in infectious diseases that can help them learn from experts while staying up to date on current news and scientific research,” Jeff Prescott, SVP of operations and clinical affairs at Michael J. Hennessy Associates, said. “Health care specialists and the media can now learn, at one source, from experts to separate the media-enhanced hysteria from the real facts, and researchers have a targeted outlet to share their findings with the world.”
The site is being launched for those in the infectious disease industry, as numerous infectious diseases have wreaked havoc across the world over the past few years, such as Ebola in West Africa. The Zika virus is now spreading rapidly throughout Latin America and is expected to have a large impact on the U.S.
“New threats in infectious disease, such as Ebola and the current Zika pandemic, have emerged over the past decade,” Prescott said. “Continuing research has produced innovations such as insights into the antiviral properties of interferon-induced transmembrane proteins and the role they play in preventing HIV, and breakthrough medications that produce near-total sustained virologic response across Hepatitis C virus genotypes.”
