TSA seeks explosives specialist in Oakland
For this position, the ability to acquire secret clearance, bomb disposal certification and U.S. citizenship are required. This position is also subject to drug and alcohol screening prior to and during employment.
The position is tasked with response and assessment activity associated with potential explosives, improvised explosive devices (IED) and components of both categories. This person will also evaluate chemicals, initiators and other components to determine whether a homemade bomb is present. This position is expected to recommend emergency and security procedures and to train other security officers and airport staff.
This position serves as a technical consultant regarding explosives, chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) threats, as well as IEDs.
For this position, candidates are required to have at least one year of working experience at the SV-G or GS-11 level of government work or equivalent. Specialized experience in assisting bomb program management and responding to alarms is required. Candidates must have certification from an accredited bomb and IED disposal course and field experience in either a military or civilian explosives ordnance disposal unit.
