The U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) issued a sources sought notice on the Federal Business Opportunities website on Tuesday, seeking information on market capabilities for providing respiratory protection.

In this notice, the USCG stated that it will not be awarding a contract based on responses to this notice nor should any financial compensation be expected in exchange for information. This notice is to garner information on commercial capabilities to support the USCG in its acquisition strategy.

This request for information is concerned with those companies that are potentially capable of offering respiratory protection systems that are able to perform in environments with hazardous materials, including chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) materials or where oxygen is otherwise limited. This could include environments that feature extreme weather conditions and post-disaster areas.

For this notice, products and capacity submissions are required to meet National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) standards, NIOSH’s CBRN standards and to be able to provide protection against materials considered to be an immediate danger to life, as defined by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).

Products should be able to provide a minimum of four hour’s worth of breathable air and be able to be decontaminated in the field for continuous use.

Submissions should include company information and contacts and product descriptions including examples of respiration protection being utilized in a hazardous environment. Cost and durability information should also be included.

This notice closes on Friday, Jan. 29, at 4 p.m. ET. Submissions should be submitted via email to Jackson McClam, USCG contracting officer, at Jackson.McClam@uscg.mil.
