The International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) announced the winners of the IAEM-USA Awards this week.

The organization awarded the 2015 IAEM Partners in Preparedness Award to the California Department of Health Hospital Emergency Preparedness Project. It was recognized for its efficacy in facilitating preparedness capacity of hospitals in the state and partnerships with the California Department of Public Health-Emergency Preparedness Office. This award recognizes projects that facilitate innovation and involvement between local government and the private sector.

Public awareness awards were awarded to Spartanburg County, California, and the City of Henderson, Nevada, for local level awards. Regional and nonprofit awards were given to the Office of Emergency Management at the University of Texas at San Antonio.

The commercial prize was granted to the Public Services Enterprise Group (PSEG) and the Sesame Street Workshop. This award recognizes public awareness campaigns and education projects that focus on homeland security and emergency and disaster preparedness.

The IAEM-USA Local Technology and Innovation Award was awarded to the Carlsbad, California, Community Emergency Response Team for their development of an assessment tool for services, functions and organization for city operations. The Regional and Nonprofit Prize for Technology was awarded to the Naval Hospital Bremerton. It was awarded for a system that is capable of scanning mass casualty patients and other data during an emergency through barcodes. It was also awarded the IAEM-Global prize.

The IAEM focuses on the promotion of, and outreach for, emergency management personnel in the public, nonprofit and private sectors.
