FEMA announces specialized firefighter position in Virginia
This position will be located in Round Hill, Virginia. Candidates for the position will be required to have U.S. citizenship and the ability to pass a background investigation and a pre-employment physical. Men will be required to be registered with the Selective Service if they were born after Dec. 31, 1959.
This position will provide first response services in all fire, hazardous material, decontamination accidents of disasters and will also assist with emergency medical services. Typical duties include maintaining fire fighting equipment and vehicles, taking action in any case where an individual is trapped in a burning area, bringing fire under control and extinguishing activity. The position will also provide aid and medical transport to injured and sick individuals.
This person may be tasked with assessment of patients through a physical exam to determine a patient’s condition and being able to utilize emergency medical equipment.
For this position, one year of GS-07 level government work or equivalent is required. Specialized experience includes utilizing firefighting apparatuses, hazardous material response equipment and the ability to perform electro cardiology procedures. Candidates are required to possess paramedic certification through the National Registry.
