TSA seeking explosives specialist at Miami International Airport
This position serves as a transportation security specialist at Miami International Airport and will be called upon to respond to any unresolved checkpoint alarms that are associated with potential explosives and components. This person will assess components of any suspected item to determine if it is an improvised explosive device (IED) or other related device. This position will also be expected to provide training for other security officers within the TSA and other staff on explosive detection.
This person will also be asked to assist in mitigation plan development regarding explosives and building and maintaining relations with law enforcement at federal, state and local levels alongside airport personnel.
For this position, candidates will need U.S. citizenship, bomb disposal certification and must be able to secure secret clearance. This position requires at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level of government work with specializations in assisting with bomb squad management and responding to alarms associated with explosives, IEDs and IED components. Certification must be obtained from an accredited IED and bomb disposal course with either civilian or military field experience.
