FEMA seeking emergency management specialist in Chicago
Basic requirements for this position include U.S. citizenship and registration to the Selective Service for men born after Dec. 31, 1959. Candidates will also need to pass a background investigation.
This position’s duties vary whether they are deployed on a emergency response mission or not. While deployed this position is tasked with preparation of Incident Action Plan portions and directing the preparation of organizational assignments. This person will also establish check-in functions and other procedures at incident locations and will be tasked with determining appropriate organizational structures and making sure they are compliant with the Incident Command System (ICS).
When this position is not deployed, tasks will consist of exercise participation at multiple levels including state, national and regional, and with specific states, territories and with other agencies within the federal government. This person will provide basic disaster-related instruction to differing authorities and will be expected to provide input into development and implementation of critical FEMA mission aspects.
This position requires at least one year of specialized experience that demonstrates capabilities of being able to serve in the Planning Section of a National Incident Management System (NIMS) and ICS-compliant emergency response team. This position also requires certification as a NIMS Resource Unit Leader or equivalent. At least one year of graduate study in a field related to the position will be required.
