U.S. Army issues solicitation for specialized decontaminant.
The U.S. Army issued a solicitation notice on Tuesday through the Federal Business Opportunities website in order to procure a decontaminant that would be utilized for specialized military equipment and other surfaces.

Through this announcement, the government intends to award a fixed-price contract -- worth up to a maximum of $30 million -- that would take place over a five-year period.

The decontaminant, referred to in the announcement as a joint general purpose decontaminant for hardened military equipment (JGPD-HME), would need to be capable of eliminating contaminants that are biological and chemical in nature within a 30-minute period. The product would also need to be capable of interacting with all equipment surfaces without danger to operators or the equipment in question. The military also requests that packaging should be easily managed in operations, including hostile and non-hostile missions. Packaging will also need to be manageable by personnel that are wearing mission oriented protection posture (MOPP) equipment and clothing.

Items that are expected to be treated with the decontaminant include weapons, military vehicles, ship surfaces and other forms of equipment.

All feedback and responses to this solicitation should be submitted via email to Christine Sordillo, contract specialist, at christine.f.sordillo.civ@mail.mil by 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 30. This solicitation is open to all U.S. firms and corporate entities.
