New York Air National Guard seeks emergency management specialist

The New York Air National Guard this week announced a vacancy in Newburgh for an emergency management specialist.

For this position, candidates must be a member of the New York Air National Guard and be a U.S. citizen. The position will be tasked with the review, coordination, execution and development of the unit's emergency management programs. These plans will be required to support Department of Defense, Air Force, and Joint Service plans alongside other military and civil organizational plans. This person will also manage and execute prevention, protection, response, mitigation and recovery operations for the wing to ensure mission capabilities.

Applicants will be required to have at least one year of working experience at the level of work immediately below what this position entails and will need to have validated understanding of principles and concepts relating to the occupational series.

This position will also require specialized experience in the area of emergency management that constitutes the knowledge, skills and abilities requirement for this position. Applicants are encouraged to show this in their application materials. Candidates should be well-versed in emergency management plan preparation and briefing; be able to communicate clearly and effectively; and be knowledgeable in personnel activation and deployment.
