FEMA announces open training specialist, situation unit leader positions
The training specialist position will be based in Emmitsburg, Maryland. This position is responsible for the management and administration of adult training programs and other initiatives within the emergency management field. This position operates within the Protection and National Preparedness Directorate, Emergency Management Institute.
This individual will be expected to develop training procedures, guidelines, policies and training programs for emergency managers. This position also serves as a senior leader and adviser to the section chief of training programs.
For this position, candidates will need at least one year of working experience at the GS-13 level of government work or equivalent. Experience should consist of training policy and guideline development for national training programs, curriculum development and delivering training courses.

The situation unit leader position is based in New York City. This position is tasked with situational awareness and collection, processing and organization of all incident-related information while deployed. This person will be responsible for maintaining information collection plans, identifying essential information elements and ensuring the efficacy and organization of the situation room.
When not deployed, this position will be partaking in exercises at multiple levels that include training requirements in relation to state and other federal agencies. This person will also be delivering instruction of disaster-related topics for authorities at all levels.
For this position, candidates will need at least one year of experience in performing special projects, preparing and implementing data and situational-awareness related plans. Certification from the National Incident Management System as a situation unit leader will also meet this requirement.
